Friends of the Fowey Estuary

Rockpool Ramble, 28/5/2014 .

We had an amazing turn out for our Rockpool Ramble at Readymoney Beach, Fowey. There were lots of families involved; the children were very keen to discover what they could find hiding beneath the rocks and seaweed - they were not disappointed! We found 4 different species of crabs (which are always the main attraction), starfish, shrimps, a pipefish and some anemones including a lovely dahlia anemone, to name but a few of the things that were seen.

We enjoy the opportunity to show our local community the diversity of marine life that is found on our shores, there were also plenty of visitors too who saw a visit to the beach in a new light.

A very enjoyable morning, thanks as always to our volunteers who help out at the events.
