Friends of the Fowey Estuary

Kayak Wildlife Trip, 15/7/2014 .

22 members of Friends of Fowey Estuary – adults and children – explored the river by kayak last night and saw. amongst other things, a dozen or so Cormorants roosting for the night in their regular spot – a very white-looking tree on the way up to St Winnow; a small flock of vociferous Greenshank and a larger flock of Curlew in flight above Penpol Creek. It was a beautiful evening, warm and sunny and the high tide took us right up to the pub because the water was completely covering the road when we returned to Golant. Karen, David and their assistant Dan, of Encounter Cornwall (see them on Facebook and the website) looked after us really well and we felt safe and comfortable in their kayaks and our paddling technique improved as the evening progressed, Hope we can do it again soon!
